This idea is based on the trial senior syllabus in Information Technology Systems for the Queensland Education System (November 1999) encompassing as many of the Units as the teacher thinks necessary.  These workbooks are to be completed individually during class time, and handed in to the teacher as assessable material.

This lesson idea is to be used to cover either one Unit in the syllabus, or as a general overview workbook.  It's main objective is to be assessment on the work the teacher has covered in the classroom.  The workbook itself is to be completed in classroom however, to show progress of the student's individual work.

By using this form of lesson idea, students will have gained:

• Knowledge on how to use the Internet for various tasks set by the teacher.
• Understanding on documenting their work as they complete the set tasks.
• A sense of achievement, yet also a sense of success as they get complete whole tasks and gain constant feedback on how they are doing.
• A portfolio of their work after the Workbook is completed.

• The teacher will decide what to include in the workbook (as it will be assessed by them) - collections of internet based and other activities.
• As each unit in the workbook is completed the student will hand it to the teacher to be marked.
• The finished product will be copied and the original given to the student.
• Throughout the year as parent/teacher interviews come around the workbook can be shown to the parent to show how well their child is working in class (as work at home is different).

As the workbook will be copied, the teacher will assess the workbook as part of the years assessment.  As the workbook is progressive assessment, the teacher will be able to track the student's work, and give a better grade at the end of the year as they will be able to see how much/hard the student has been working in class.
