Students will be able to use their knowledge of hardware and software to solve given case studies - with regards to sofware.

  Activity Description

 - Class comes in and sit down
 - Recap on last lesson’s work:
         - “Last lesson we did some case studies.  I want everyone to get their sheets out so
           that we can continue working on them.”
         - Go through the answers of the first two questions on their case studies.
 - Introduce the day’s work:
        - “Now the third question may be a bit harder, because I haven’t gone through that
           with you…”

  Activity Description

 - Talking about software capabilities:
         - “What do you think I mean by software capabilities of a computer?”
         - Talk about how a computer must be able to sustain running specific programs, and
           how different people need different programs…
         - “What type of programs would a newspaper journalist need?”
                           - publisher, word processor, internet software (internet explorer)
 - Go through each of the case study requirements (question 3) – make sure that everyone is
   typing their answers down.
 - Go through the rest of the questions for the first case study.
 - Students to complete the other two cases by themselves.
 - Go through the student’s answers together.

  Activity Description

 - Give out handout that has questions about the school’s software.
         - “What are some of the software applications the school has here in this lab?”
         - Get the kids to complete the sheets until the end of period, finishing for homework if
           needed.

Students will be able to work through a case study on their own steam during an exam - if there are price lists available to them.  Students will also be able to reason through their choices in the exam as well, using their knowledge of hardware and software.
